Maria Freed had been on Earth all along.  She appears later on in the series.  Duke Freed himself was very surprised to find that she is alive.  The last time Duke saw her was on the burning planet Freed calling for him.  Duke could not take her with him because he had to go and repossess the Grendizer super robot from Vega, or else the whole universe would have been at stake.

This man thought that the person in Grendizer was an evil person, and before passing away, he told Maria that she is from planet Freed and that he is not her grandfather.  He also told her to repossess what rightfully belongs to planet Freed-that is Grendizer.

Maria had a blue necklace that glows whenever it came near Grendizer.  This is how she discovers the Space Science Centre.  Soon she will meet her brother who has the same exact necklace as her and they will be together again after many years.

Maria is a girl that has a lot of abilities.  She is a very high achiever in almost everything new she tries.  She is able to sense events before they happen.  This trait appears in one of one-hundred females in planet Freed.  This ability has helped a great deal in some cases.  Maria pilots the Marine Spazer, which connects to Grendizer to help in underground battles.

Maria can be very self-centered and sarcastic.  She makes fun of Koji very often.  Her and Koji begin to like each other and what stops them from actually getting married is when Maria and Duke Freed retrurn to their home planet at the end of the Grendizer series.
