Grendizer Versus

 

Bring them all up !

 

As I mentioned before, Grendizer is distinct.  He was built with an entire technology of a scientifically specialized and advanced planet.  I sometimes get this question asked, what would happen if Grendizer fought Mazinkaiser?
I believe the best place to find such answers is the latest clip that appeared and showed the Go Nagai robots mobilize.  Anyone remember the 4-DVD set of the 4-episode OVA series called Shin Getter Robo vs. Neo Getter Robo?  This is the one that had 1 episode per DVD, not the newer one that lumps all 4 episodes on one DVD.

Well, after each of the first 3 episodes of this OVA series (at the end of each DVD) we were shown a compilation of the Mazinger Z story all over again.  The art is beautiful because it was drawn in the 1990's.  Really fantastic to see these 1970's super robots drawn again.

First clip: Mazinger Z is depicted to fight so many enemies and soon he will face the new army.  This new army is the Mikene Kingdom that will defeat Mazinger Z.  Aphrodite A is show on a cross to be executed.  This is basically the same story that happened to Mazinger Z in the movie of Mazinger Z vs. Ankoku Daishogun (General Dark).

The neat part is that you see many enemies of the different series such as from Mazinger Z, Grendizer, Great Mazinger, and Getta Robo G.  It's as if all the bad guys are teaming up together now.
Second Clip: Great Mazinger along with others such as Getta Robo G, Venus A, and Jeeg will come to save the day.  They defeat this army, but soon after that, Ankoku Daishogun (General Dark) appears from beneath the ground.
Third Clip: All of the super robots that came to help Mazinger Z get beaten and damaged by Ankoku Daishogun.  Ankoku Daishogun will grab Aphrodite A and nearly crush it with Sayaka inside it, but then Shin Getter Robo appears and chops Ankoku Daishogun's hand off.  Grendizer launches out of nowhere and picks up Aphrodite A.  Shin Getter Robo slashes Ankoku Daishogun with its huge axe weapon.  Grendizer shoots out of Spazer and puts Aphrodite A down.  Grendizer uses the Double Haken weapon and nails Ankoku Daishogun and finishes him off.  Then the big fire character that was in Great Mazinger's series appears in front of Grendizer and Shin Getter Robo.  We will then witness Mazinkaiser being launched with Koji Kabuto (who left the damaged Mazinger Z).  Grendizer and Shin Getter Robo are then shown standing in front the new enemy, and Mazinkaiser enters the scene.  THE END.
The idea behind these clips was to introduce the Mazinkaiser OVA.  We see all of other super robots getting destroyed except Grendizer, Shin Getter Robo, and Mazinkaiser.  Grendizer actually looses his Double Haken weapon that he threw on Ankoku Daishogun because that fire enemy appears from beneath and burns everything.

Nevertheless, it was Grendizer who finished off Ankoku Daishogun.  I think this tells you something.  Grendizer is in the same rank as Shin Getter Robo and Mazinkaiser.

The neat thing here is that we are not shown what happens after Mazinkaiser appears.  That fire enemy was in the Great Mazinger series, but after the Mikene Kingdom was defeated in Great Mazinger, we never saw that fire creature again.  This clip does the same thing by not showing us what happens to this creature.

Grendizer is not shown as being inferior to these new super robots that came after him, and this is shown by the fact that Dizer finished off Ankoku Daishogun.

Another cool part is that Grendizer, Shin Getter Robo, and Mazinkaiser teaming up is the same idea as the movie where Grendizer, Great Mazinger, and Getta Robo G team up against Dragonzaurus.

I firmly believe that Grendizer is still tops and his storyline necessitates that he be the most powerful one no matter what.
